The terms that govern your use of the Lex platform.
Last updated: June 14, 2026Lex is a technology platform that connects clients with LSK-verified advocates. Lex is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. All legal advice is provided solely by the advocates on the platform.
Clients pay a platform technology fee to book sessions:
15 minutes
KES 300
30 minutes
KES 800
60 minutes
KES 1,500
90 minutes
KES 2,000
This fee covers platform technology services only and is not a legal fee.
All legal fees are separate from the platform booking fee. Legal fees are quoted privately by advocates based on the Advocates Remuneration Order 2014 and are agreed directly between the client and advocate.
Advocates on Lex are independent contractors, not employees, agents, or partners of Lex. Lex facilitates payment between clients and advocates and retains a platform fee; the remaining legal fee is paid out to the advocate's nominated M-Pesa or bank account once it clears.
Each advocate is solely responsible for their own taxes — including income tax and, where applicable, VAT — on all earnings received through Lex. Lex does not withhold, deduct, remit, or file any tax on an advocate's behalf, and issues no tax certificates. Advocates are responsible for keeping their own records and complying with all Kenya Revenue Authority obligations.
Lex does not practice law, provide legal advice, or represent clients. We are a technology platform only. Advocates on Lex are independent professionals responsible for their own advice and conduct.
All advocates on Lex are verified members of the Law Society of Kenya or relevant bar associations. They are bound by the LSK Code of Conduct and Advocates Act.
Platform booking fees are non-refundable once a session has been completed. If a lawyer fails to attend a confirmed session, a full refund will be issued within 24 hours.
Sessions may be recorded with consent of both parties for the purpose of generating AI summaries. By booking a session you consent to this recording.
You may not use Lex to:
Lex is not liable for the quality of legal advice provided by advocates. Our liability is limited to the platform booking fee paid.
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Disputes shall be resolved in Nairobi courts.
